Mia Ryan deep dives into Analytics
She is passionate about analytics and an ambassador for Women in Data Science. Mia Ryan is the head of Redpill Linpro Analytics and is almost obsessed with learning more about the subject. Though, when she started her journey at Redpill Linpro, it was not in that field. – But I just couldn't leave analytics alone, she says.
After a career in finance and later on working with analytics in the Fintech and Proptech area, Mia Ryan longed to learn more about cloud- and infrastructure. It led her to Redpill Linpro in 2019. Her job was to sell cloud services, but analytics was too interesting not to pursue.
– I got to work with incredibly knowledgeable people; everyone is very competent in what they do. However, it was a steep learning curve. The first months were pretty tough. I didn't get the jokes, and it was a lot to take in. But then I started to grasp it, and together we saw how fitted Redpill Linpro was to take on analytics and data platforms, she says.
The challenge of grasping a complex area such as analytics fit her perfectly.
– When I find something interesting, I really deep dive into it, I obsess with it. If I'm passionate about a subject, I don't see any boundaries. I just really want to figure it out.
Since a few years back, Mia Ryan has been an active part of Women in Data Science. In 2022 she is also one of four official ambassadors in Norway.
WiDS is a world-spanning organization initiated by Stanford University and serves to lift women in data science and the AI area. In spring 2022, Mia Ryan and fellow members of WiDS will arrange a big annual event. But they also organize smaller meetups like "champagne coding" and "lunch and learn". Women always give the talks at the events, and everyone is welcome to participate.
– It is so much fun! It is developing, and I really like doing these events. I get to meet people with the same interests and discuss how to evolve the area further.

You just launched Redpill Linpro Analytics, and you are the head of the business - how does it feel?
– It feels really good, and I'm excited! We are just getting started, but we are working on many different cases already. It is fun to follow companies in their journey to become more data-driven – and most companies have to make that journey sooner or later.
