Efraim returned to Redpill Linpro – with new learnings
After a few years as an integrations developer at Redpill Linpro, Efraim Ramsén pursued an opportunity to work front-end at another company. But after a while, he returned. This time, he brought new perspectives on what he looks for in a workplace and a new understanding of the end user of API integrations.
– I always appreciated my manager and my team at Redpill Linpro, but I have always been interested in design and visuals. So I wanted to take the chance to pursue that when an opportunity came along, says Efraim Ramsén.
Efraim has a background as a schooled cartoonist and has worked with that for several years. However, when he had a baby on the way, he started studying IT at the university to get a more reliable work situation. Just when he had some doubts about his project as an integrations developer at Redpill Linpro, a former colleague reached out to him. They asked if Efraim was interested in the position of a junior front-end developer at a product company. And Efraim was intrigued.
– I actually had a bit of a guilty conscience. My manager was very supportive when I told her I wasn't happy with my project and were about to change the situation. So it was a classic "it's me, not you" situation when I left Redpill Linpro.
The new job was fun and developing, and Efraim had the opportunity to learn many new things. But pretty soon, the company's structure changed. The work became messy, the focus was entirely on tasks, and the team spirit got lost. He began to think about what felt essential for him to thrive personally in a workplace.
– The most important thing may not be the actual technology you use. In a way, it's the opposite. Everything around is the most important: that the company has a solid foundation, with sound finances that you don't have to worry about, that it is an organization that you feel comfortable and safe with, and that there is trust in the employees, he says.
Efraim got in touch with his former manager at Redpill Linpro, and after a couple of meetings, he was back at the Stockholm office working with Mulesoft and API integration again. However, the difference was that he had gained experience implementing the APIs and presenting the data from working front-end.
– I think it was very useful. It has given me a different perspective. I can see the practical benefits for the end user and how to to have a well structured integration platform and efficient integrations, which makes me more motivated to develop them.
What do you think makes Redpill Linpro unique?
– I think there is a kindness and concern that passes through the company, both towards employees and customers. We focus on open source and want customers to be able to use it in order to be free in their applications. Our slogan, "Building the Nordic digital society," also shows it. It is not just empty words; there is truth and a sense of responsibility behind them. We don't just want to make money at any cost; we want to be successful in a sustainable way.
How do you notice this in your daily work?
– They go that extra mile – even if it means more work or a slightly higher cost. They invest in their employees and believe in our competence. We have a nice office; they have created a pleasant work environment. And we have excellent equipment. Mechanical keyboards and extremely good screens. It's really small things, but it's so easy to cut back on. But at the same time, they are our work tools, and we use them eight hours a day. Redpill Linpro shows with their actions that they care and want us to thrive at work.
