Remote work with freedom and team spirit
At Redpill Linpro, we always strive towards creating a vibrant office with a strong community and, at the same time, a flexibility that allows everyone to be self-empowered. We value the importance of different types of activites, such as technical presentations and social gatherings, but as important is the freedom to work where it suits you. Our Customer Experience (CX)-team has taken this to the next level with a geographically dispersed team. How does it work? I have spoken to Aditya Sethi, a Salesforce Marketing Automation consultant, who shares his experience and top tips.
Working as a Salesforce consultant at Redpill Linpro
Aditya has been working at Redpill Linpro for around a year but has an extensive 8-year's experience in Salesforce. He has a background in marketing and sales and coming into this more IT-related role has made him develop his technical skills over time.
- "I'm learning programming languages and taking certificates, at the moment as Salesforce AI Specialist, through their online education platform Trailhead. It's exciting to always grow and learn something new", says Aditya.
The CX-team consists of 14 colleagues. Aditya himself is based in Gothenburg, while many of hos colleagues are based in Stockholm, some in Skåne and in Umeå. Thanks to the strong communication and weekly meetings, the cooperation runs smoothly, undependent of the distance.
The benefits with remote work
Aditya descibes the flexibility as the number-one benefit:
- "I can adjust the day after my needs. It gives me time to focus and saving a lot of time. Through good digital workspaces, the cooperation still runs smoothly and support is there when we need it."
He also appriciates the smaller contributions that build connections within the team:
- "We have a vibrant chat where we share everything from achievements, tips and memes. That makes a huge difference! We also have physical meetings a couple of times per year - like Christmas dinners and teambuilding activities - which gives a boost of energy."
Challenges and how to solve them
As any type of work situation, there's some challenges working remotely. Sometimes it can feel isolating or being difficult to keep the contact during busy periods. A simple question may also take longer to be answered. Aditya highlights the importance of keeping regular communication as the key:
- "We make sure to have weekly meetings where we both discuss work and stengthening the team spirit, it can be a presentation about new learnings, or more joyful things such as a brainteasers or online quizzes. After busy periods with more focus on client projects, we still liven up our chats and have our weekly synks, to not loose touch with my team members.
The occasional physical meetings help as well - to see each other in real life makes us feel more connected."
Tips for a successful remote team
Aditya's top tips for a succesful remote team work are simple, but effective:
1. Keep the communcation alive - Share successes, ask questions and be personal over video meetings or the chat.
2. Create a strong team spirit - Make sure to have physical meetings every now and then, but in between these meetings, put together fun digial activities, such as multiplayer online games - that makes a huge difference.
3. Be helpful and available - Support colleagues when needed and share knowledge.
- "The most important thing is to keep the contact and do it in an engaging way. That both strengthens the relations and the job satisfaction."
Final words
Aditya especially values Redpill Linpro's culture and values:
- "There is a strong will here to help each other and contribute to something bigger than yourself. We do not need to be at the same place to succeed, but it's always nice to meet and feel the community - both within the CX-team and the whole Redpill Linpro."
Thank you, Aditya, for your insights and for everything you do at Redpill Linpro!
